The End

The St. Albert Bike Association is no longer an active club. We want to thank you for the support over the years and look forward to seeing you on the trails!

Bicycle Repair Stands Appearing Around St. Albert!

St. Albert Bike Association is stoked to announce the installation of our Bicycle Repair Stands!!

In partnership with the City of St. Albert and the Environmental Initiatives Grant Program, SABA has worked over the last 2 years to design, acquire, and install these repair stands.

They include a set of common tools that you can use to make minor repairs or adjustments on your bicycle while out enjoying the incredible Red Willow Trail system in St. Albert, as well as a winterized foot pump to inflate your tires if they’re low.

So far two stations have been installed along the trail system; One near Woodlands Skate Park, and the other near the stone statues behind St. Albert Place. There’s a third waiting to be installed around the Lacombe Lake area once the City gets the concrete poured for it. Along with these bike stands, SABA also worked with the City to design and install a skateboard repair station at Woodlands Skate Park!

We hope these stands will be a welcomed and well used facility for cyclists around St. Albert!

Working Towards a Bike-able St. Albert!

Over the past few months SABA has been working on putting together a grant application for the City of St. Albert’s Environmental Initiatives Grant program.

We’re excited to announce that today, St. Albert City Council has approved the recommendation from the Environmental Advisory Committee to award SABA $8000 towards the purchase and installation of two bicycle repair stations, one bicycle/skateboard deck repair station, and two air pumps – to be located strategically throughout the City of St. Albert!!

The bbike standike repair stations will be placed in high (bicycle) traffic locations, and allow riders to perform quick, easy repairs to their bikes using a variety of permanently attached, common bike tools. Need to tighten a shifter or brake cable?  No problem!  Need to change your tire?  The repair stand has got you covered! (Assuming you carry a spare with you.  You do carry a spare with you, right?)

air pump

Air pumps will be located at two of the locations, and will allow riders to quickly get some air if they have a flat or low tire!

skate deck

We’ll also be looking to install a hybrid skateboard and bicycle repair stand, likely to be located near the St. Albert Skateboard Park. This stand will allow for basic repairs of your bicycle, but also will include common tools you can use to perform quick maintenance on your board!

SABA is excited to have been chosen as one of the recipients of this great initiative, and we’re looking forward to working with the City over the winter months to choose the final locations and plan for the installation of these stands!

Congratulations to all the other groups that were also recommended for their own environmental initiatives!!

The SPIN FUNdraiser is a Win-Win

NOTE: The first day of the first session has been moved back by a week. We will begin the first session on December 2nd and add a class to the end of the session. We are hoping to fill the class to optimize our fundraising efforts. Thanks

The days are short and the snow is imminent. Time to spin with #bikestalbert

SABA is bringing back the SPIN. Stay bike fit this winter and feel good that proceeds contribute to promoting a safe and active cycling culture here in St. Albert.

Two, ten session classes are being generously hosted at the Sturgeon Valley Athletic Club starting on November 25th and February 17th. These one hour classes start on Wednesday evenings starting at 7:15pm. Space is limited to 18 participants however, personal bikes and trainers are welcome – space permitting. A full class means that SABA can invest more back into St. Albert’s cycling community.
